Tis the season to read the master Orwell
I have just finished reading one of the 20th century's greatest novels - 1984.
An interesting read to take me into 2006.
It seems the "proles" are merely fodder for the rich, keep them working and they won't think, together with a continuous war to keep the arms industry going, which in turn keeps the people working.
I rather think this is actually already in place.
It certainly demands being read by every person who resides on this planet suspended in mid-air space surrounded by nothing by a meteor or the odd space shuttle.
Being on holiday has its uses, and delving into more books, and contemplating this mud-rock-crust we just so happen to be residing on is not for the faint hearted.
It occurred to me after viewing a famous picture of earth in mid-air taken from the moon that gosh we are fools running around Christmas shopping.
It is a complete fad, money-making scheme to keep people working and spending their money as otherwise, if no one spends (the proles that is) then the proles can't work and may start thinking bringing something like a revolution to a head, and then the rich would all of a sudden be compelled to take affirmative action.
I do see though, that some corporates are buying goats and milk for Christmas gifts for their staff instead of cards. The goats and milk go to a specified place. Not bad Johnny.
Back to this earth we are so keen on stuffing up, and making our lives miserable.
It is rather ironic how when you realize you live on top of a mega volcano, there is not much you can do about it in the event it decides to blow its top.
The mere amazing fact earth is sitting in mid-air, and we are suspended to earth by gravity should be taken with a little more than a grain of salt.
The ocean is a floating wildlife park, and it is amazing how every piece of plastic, metal, chemicals, you name it end up in the ocean and then onto our dinner plate.
Oh yes the wonderful yummy fish that we all can't stop eating.
I see the whales are in for a hell of time right now, being taken by the harpoon-load down in the Southern Ocean. Thankfully there are a few beggars out there who know what is happening and are taking action literally amidst the cool cold climate zones of the Antarctic waters.
I usually do a Christmas book list at this time of year, and so will start work on it, and once it is ready I will upload it. It might be a new year celebration blog.
Today I walked a few feet up a hillside covered in manuka and ferns. Very nice, and very hot. Lunch was made by the in-house chef VB, "sarnies" as the Brits say, by the milk-pond looking lagoon. Two rosella parrots accompanied us, a rare sight this far south.
